Tasty Indian-Pakistani dishes. Only had the buffet, which was fast, hot and generally well replenished. The staff is friendly and they have buy 10 get 1 punch cards. Curries were delicious, but maybe a little thin in consistency, but that just means more naan to soak up the goodness. Recommend for work lunch.

Buffet lunch is a great deal. Food is hot, they keep the pans full, nice selection. Delicious and owner is very friendly!

Personable staff, tasty food and an atmosphere that can be whatever you want to make of it. Food could be a little spicier but I get that most people might not feel that way so they make their dishes to accommodate those tastes.

THE BEST INDIAN BUFFET EVER! Consistently Great. Food beyond the buffet is just as wonderful and they have take out and local delivery. A hallmark of cuisine in downtown Troy for sure!

We stopped in for early dinner around 5:30ish. Large, tasty portions. Their Naan was excellent. Fast and friendly service. Ambience was fine - very casual, hence 4 stars. We ordered two Lamb dishes - Korma and Masala, which were delicious. We will dine there again.

Excellent service and good food

I am obsessed with this place. You wouldn’t realize how much of a gem it is just by looking at it from the outside. We get the buffet often, but not often enough. The food is so good and never disappointing. I love that their dishes are not spicy and yet so full of flavor. I also really enjoy the music they play inside the restaurant . The staff have never been rude, maybe sometimes a little distant.Recently their buffet prices dropped a little, which I believe is due to competition moving in next door. If they didn’t drop the buffet prices, I would have actually left 4 stars. I still pay the price because it’s worth it, but I stopped going frequently because it was getting to be a bit much and added up fast.Take-out is a rare treat for us because the minimum cost for delivery and food prices are a bit higher. But the food it still worth it to us.

Great weekday lunch buffet. Very affordable.

I have exclusively ordered delivery from Shalimar, but I must say that every time I am in the Troy area visiting friends, I try and order from here if I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine (which is often). Their lamb vindaloo and biryani, chicken tikka masala and jalapeno naan are my go to items. Food is always brimming with flavor with a nice, medium spiciness. You can ask to have it on the mild side or the hotter side as well. Great service and food every time.

I've only ever ordered Shalimar for delivery, so I can't comment on the location itself. I can comment on how good the food is and have never been disappointed. Great flavors and spice levels, very quick delivery times, food is hot, naan is good. I've yet to find Indian takeout in Troy that even comes close.

I order chicken curry, veg curry and Nan. Both cury taste horrible and not what I expected. It taste like they just microwaved ready made curry. Nan was good quality

Casual, fairly priced, with all you can eat buffet noon to three Sat and Sun, 11:30-2:30 m-f. Very tasty, not too spicy to eat. I love it!

This place makes me want to drive into a pool of tikka sauce and shower off with a bucket of korma. The best food whether you want quick take out / delivery or to sit in. The restaurant is so homey that you instantly feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is nice and the food is amazing. The buffet has a great selection!

Delicious food and great service. Despite the location, it is worth it... Hot and fresh meals. The kids lived the grilled shrimp.

Best buffet in the region, and some of my favorite Indian food. The Vegetable Korma is to die for!! Low priced buffet, but the full meals are more expensive. Delivery.... takes a while. Same for take out. Still well worth the wait. The buffet now runs every day, which is AWESOME. Not a buffet to miss. Very casual, quiet, sometimes hard to get drink refills though.

I always go there for a quick chai, naan with aalu tikki, pakora and samosa are my go to with friends. I like to go there in the afternoon, but if you like to try a bunch of food go there at lunch time for buffet.

Best food in town. Every thing is fresh. Buffet is very good. A lot of varieties. Faisal is the best.

Their food is great, but if you order takeout be prepared to wait for a while before it arrives. I live less than a mile away and it took well over an hour. If this is your first time going, I recommend stopping by for their lunch buffet. All you can eat for about $7-8. Don't forget to save room for their rice pudding for dessert! (they have pistachios in the back to put on top, you just have to ask)

Excellent chicken over rice combo I got at Shalimar. The delivery guy said no tip necessary that to rate us & be sure to order again & try something new if you like your food this time. I will definitely be trying some other stuff out from Shalimar. Definitely gonna count right & be sure to tip next time as well.. 😆

Very bland mediocre food. Kind of rude staff. The only reason they survived is by being the only Indian restaurant in Troy for very long time.

Mediocre at best. Food was decent and staff weren't very enthusiastic. The setting is what you'd expect for a small eatery, but could use a bit more... vibrancy. Prob wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

My absolute favorite spot in to eat in Troy been eating here for more than 10 years and never had a bad experience.

Love Shalimar. They food is delicious and the price is right where it needs to be.The service is always good and this place is an easy overlook. Don’t be fooled though, this is a gem for Indian cuisine and the lunch buffet during the week is a STEAL.The food is always hot and fresh tasing, the service is great, and it’s true Indian cuisine. If you’re looking for a new favorite, this is that place.

Great food . Great price. Great people. I just like them to change the menu a little . Same food all the time kind of gets boring but I can't stop going. Back to it . Highly recommended

This is not an Indian restaurant! None of what they serve taste like Indian and no Indians visit this place. I got biryani and samosa from the place and the biryani was just flavored rice and not biryani. Samosa was okay but there are places which serve better samosa's nearby.

Crazy good food and some killer tzatziki sauce, awesome little place, great to sit and talk and chow down. Prices are very reasonable and no belly issues later. They have both spicy and non-spicy dishes to suite everyone. Had a great time will definitely come again.

Wow so delicious. Passing through we picked this restaurant for dinner. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. The staff was super friendly and suggested a few dishes. We enjoyed the Samosa Chat, and Lamb Kabobs. We asked for the food to be spicy and they added the right amount of heat. Wish we had a restaurant as good as this in our town. The owner chatted with us and was the highlight of the meal, with out discussion on cooking.
